Summary - In the short documentary Journey without a Map, Abdul discovers an unlikely passion in contemporary dance, tapping into the healing power of art as he seeks asylum in Greece from his native Afghanistan. Through his expressive movement we learn about traumas in various stages of his life: Taliban bombings that killed his mother, life-threatening land and land journeys to Greece, and racism, attacks and bureaucratic limbo in Athens. He had never danced until he chanced into a movement workshop with American choreographers in 2009. His dance practice evolved, and he performed in prestigious events, opening doors and introducing him to a community he might not have found otherwise. Through exploring the life of a refugee in Greece, the film will give viewers the chance to understand how refugees take creative risks, tackle the complex issue of their crisis, and express points of view seldom explored in mainstream media
